Re: manfromjax #14943
A little off-subject but I'm obviously not a youngster since I even know what an 8086 is let alone 80286 or 80386. In fact I worked for IBM in 1981 and was the proud owner through the employee discount program of an IBM PC with 128 KB of RAM (the base memory was 64KB it had an expansion card), a double sided 5 1/4 inch floppy drive (2) - in fact the very orginal ones had single sided but I scored low in the employee lottery which ended up being fortunate as I got some better features. I paid a little over $4000 for this which was a lot of money back then on my salary for $23K/year. They gave a no interest loan however for 2 years to pay it off. Later I bought the expansion unit of a 10 MB hard drive for around $1000.

I later owned the PS/2 Model 50 which was an 80286 machine, and a PS/2 Model 70 which was an 80386 machine!

I once saw what was pretty identical to my original IBM PC in the Smithsonian, which made me feel old even back then!
