10 dollars will be the minimum....
a friend of mine came from Sierra Leone recently.....had some fever and went to hospital.....after doing about 10 tests (which cost around 250 USD), they realized they should have tested for malaria.....anyhow to make a long story short, the test they used here in Lebanon to detect for malaria was around 110 usd.....
so definitely a 10 $ minimum, maybe more....much more...
and yes he had contracted/was in contact with the plasmodium v. critter...by a another flying critter.....
