The revolving door between government agencies and the private sector has been going on since at least Ulysses S. Grant was President. It's why the SEC has done nothing about naked shorting.
On a positive note the current acting head of the FDA doesn't seem to have a dog in the fight (unlike the last one) and has worked in oncology.
