I did a lot of gambling on Greyhounds when I lived in Rapid City in 76-78. In 1977 "Downing won the richest race in Greyhound racing, His owner got his start training greyhounds at the Black hills track in Rapid City. The big race was early in the year. That September the owner brought him to the Black Hills for a match race with the Black Hills best dog. Now that was like a joke, Downing beat the best dogs in all od dog racing and the black Hills track was at the bottom money wise. Downing beat G.P's Sara by 15 lengths. Downings big win in Florida is below.
A note that I may have mentioned before, Florida voted to end dog racing in the 2018 elections by 2020, don't know if that meant the beginning or end of the year. Since like 10 of the 14 tracks left are in Florida and 3 of the other 4 tiny tracks, that will probably end dog racing. Owners will have their best dogs at the big track and lesser ones an new dogs at lesser track. Not enough tracks to make a living.
Dog racing was dying anyway. Casino's cut into them. Horse tracks as well are suffering and dos being gone will help horse racing a bit.
Anyway, "The Incredible Downing">>>>>
