Good find. One-hour IV infusion after chemo, with systemic implications (as yet unknown whether it would affect the efficacy of the chemo)-- from Galera. Simple 3x a day oral rinse, swish and spit, with no systemic absorption and no side effects -- from IPIX.
I know which one I'd choose for a patient. Who wants yet another needle in their arm, sitting in a chair for an hour when they are so sick?
And I also know which one an insurance company is going to prefer. They're NOT going to want to pay for an IV procedure that has to be done in a facility with medical professionals, with accompanying huge costs, when someone can use an oral rinse at home instead.
