Apple watches are not covered by insurance reimbursements or recommended by doctors. They are also not manufactured by large pharmaceutical companies trying to develop the next greatest and best gadget to make sure some of those insurance reimbursements fuel their sales. By and large, patients have, or think they have, personal relationships with physicians and will mostly follow their advice as to which monitoring system is best. And those physicians generally have relationships with sales reps, some who they may like more than others.

But your larger point is on target, lower prices are great for consumers and perhaps some people not constrained by budget will test more frequently.

Take off your rose colored glasses, because the trend is towards other monitoring systems. Insurance payers will do a cost analysis to determine whether improved continual monitoring has long term cost benefits.

The trend is your friend, you might buck it short term, but not long term.
