The claim is that some of the shorting is the market maker temporarily shorting to "make an efficient market." Well, if that's the case, then how come they are letting people sit there on the bid for a very long time before they fill them? And how come, with so very few trades today, they would do this 60-80% of the trades -- after letting them sit there unfilled? What, they suddenly felt a sense of urgency to "make the market"?

I say "bosh."
