I just came back home from another presentation and reception.
It was done by WEXMED ( live ) from Ohio State University in a very nice resort on the shore of Gulf of Mexico.
Lately they do that yearly in Naples , and since my friend finished graduate school at Ohio State University this is my second year during their meeting...
First , Dean of Medical College did some presentation , then there were 3 speakers about 20 min each.
The speakers today were excellent..
-Dr Rosa Lapalombella, PHD , talking about research in Leukemia ,
-Dr Nahush Mokadam MD , cardiac surgeon,
-Dr Eugene Oltz PHD, Immunology
After they finished they all came back to podium with a Dean who was a moderator and we all could ask questions , microphone was given to person asking...
We were sitting in the first raw , and I was a second who asked question ,...
My Q was for cardiac surgeon , he does cardiac transplant , so how often he see GvHD , how he treat it and if he consider CCR5 inhibitors ..
His answer was very short , I just operate patients , dont know other problems and never heard of CCR5 inhibitors ...
Dean than look at immunologist and asked if he can comment about CCR5 inhibitors , he did VERY little , he said there are no medicine really yet , so since I still had microphone in my hands I said few words about Maraviroc and Leronlimab , Dean noticed that I do know the subject and asked me to say little more ,
at the end Immunologist asked if I can speak with him during reception for little longer,
And we did , during reception we spoke on the side probably for about 20 minutes.
He really didn't know much about CCR5 , he asked me to email him some material , which I will do tomorrow,
I am only posting that to show , how much of education in medical community need to be done...
