Well, shorting is how they make most of their money on that.
1. Hand the company $2 million dollars in exchange for convertable debt at $0.17.
2. Short hard.
3. Convert debt at $0.13/share
What is that? 15, 25, 35% return on $2M in a week or two. Not bad for a few day's loan.
Sox detailed it more in depth but that is why the MFO did not have to report as a large holder of shares.
