If you are an employee, in a lab as you state, then you work for a subsidiary that handles their own payroll. Joe does not handle the payroll directly. And you say he is "jetting around", well how else would he get to the meetings?

What state are you in? You should be going to your Dept of Labor and file a complaint that you are not getting paid. Not posting on a bulletin board. And if you are in a lab, you may have some kind of non disclosure you signed. If so, you might want to be careful of your posts on a bulletin board. They can be held against you (not saying they will, but maybe can).
