Agree. There must be some motivation for staying engaged for anyone. Maybe they truly believe. Seems likely. Maybe they don't believe and think they are here to save people from themselves. Doesn't seem likely but there are enough crazy people in the world to believe that is possible for some. Some other reason? Probably. Money? Seems quite likely.
