In his book, "JOHN PAUL JONES - Sailor, Hero, Father of the American Navy ", Evan Thomas says that Jones, who thought himself a poet, once exchanged poetry with Phillis and although there is no real evidence, Thomas seems to think that Jones probably tried to "put the move" on Phillis. I think he may have had an easier time with the British. LOL
