common sense indicates nobody intends to buy any number of shares worth less than the brokers commission
so when that happens it is usually either mm games or simply just a small partial fill of an order-
has happened to me plenty of times, which is why i often set an 'all or nothing' order
but the problem with an 'all or nothing' order is that you get passed over a lot because only the mm where the order is placed knows the order is there-so only bids and asks at that mm can satisfy the 'all or nothing' order,so most ppl just set a 'limit' order and take their chances that they wont get a ridicuously small partial fill
the system is not designed for retail ease of use- it is designed to maximize broker and mm profit etc,for they get their commission or other objectives no matter how small the partial fill
I THOUGHT MOST PPL KNEW THIS VERY BASIC INFO-but some will make any excuse as an attempt to confuse and bash
