I don't know about the Fairy and the Hare, but, the fat guy in the red suit only works about 2 days a year - allowing for the various time zones of Christmas. Somebody hires a gazillion Santa wannabees to work the Malls and interact with the bazillion kids and their germs. Santa lives in a cool, germ free environment for 363 days and spends the other 2 flying through sub freezing temps with frequent stops on a roof or two. He has a team of courageous (& very good looking) reindeer to haul him around for the 2 days that he "works". In summary, the guy works 2 days a year and is germ free. He might be able to do that forever.
