Based on what I've been told by persons whom I know are employed in the investment industry, the daily FINRA numbers only illustrate the necessary daily transactions utilized by brokers which are done to facilitate trading. I have been told by people who do this for a living that such transactions are almost 100% covered by the next day and that the intra day numbers are not indicative of any active shorting. JMO
