The announcement of the Patent was nice, but not very significant other than it is the first full patent to be granted. Others will follow I believe.
As far as the study completion, I don't think the company wants to issue that announcement until after the new year holiday. By then most of the investing world will be coming back from their week long time away from serious work activity, and the announcement will have greater impact than if it were released now.
I think this patent granting PR is just priming the pump so to speak.
