Harken back to September of 2017 when Trump met with Schumer and Pelosi also about immigration. At that time, Schumer and Pelosi left the meeting and immediately released a statement misrepresenting their discussions with the president in an attempt to commandeer the narrative:
It appears that Trump bided his time, learned more about just how un-American the Pelosi-Schumer agenda is, and laid the perfect retaliatory trap by inviting them to the White House to discuss border security.
Oh, and he had invited the press to live broadcast their negotiations. The result was a delicious smackdown of the two globalist clowns.
Schumer sat slumped realizing he’d be better of keeping quiet. Pelosi groused to the cameras resulting in President Trump chiding her after one of her many objections to the press being present:
“It’s not bad, Nancy. It’s called transparency.”
Trump made no bones about his primary concern – national security – nor the lengths he was willing to go to accomplish that:
“I am proud to shut down the government for border security. I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down, I’m not going to blame you for it.”
Trump’s vehemence left Pelosi and Schumer exasperated, with both leaders pleading with the president not to debate the funding request in front of the news media.
Now why would that be?
Maybe because Chuck Schumer has defined his constituents and it ain’t you:
And, Trump is focused like a laser on protecting America’s families and American taxpayers.
Could somebody please explain to the Democrats (we need their votes) that our Country losses 250 Billion Dollars a year on illegal immigration, not including the terrible drug flow. Top Border Security, including a Wall, is $25 Billion. Pays for itself in two months. Get it done!

One can already envision the 2020 campaign ads:
