Video-enabled telemedicine integrated with clinical care
“Today, 10 million Americans are using telemedicine”, said American Telemedicine Association’s CEO Jonathan Linkous. According to several reports, home-based care has a proven use case. There are technologies that promote direct patient interaction. One of the most well-established sectors of the video telemedicine market is video diagnostic consultation that seamlessly addresses the need for access to care.
According to healthcare success, 20% of consumers are now willing to set up a consumer trend in primary and chronic care. They are now jumping towards video-enabled medical providers. Patients are expecting their doctors to connect with them via technology. The same report claims that 50 million Americans are looking to switch to a primary care provider offering virtual visits.
When we try to improve a process with technology and innovation, the goal should be improving the organization’s outcome. Integrated workflows provide efficient patient care and support physicians. “Video is about to become the way we all visit the doctor,” says Wired magazine. The Medical University of South Carolina has also integrated video visits with its Epic EHR platform.
Earlier, telemedicine was used to connect patients from rural regions with providers in metros, using an audio-visual device in their primary care physician’s office. Later, as smartphones arrived, it helped people everywhere to have video consultations with doctors.
