Two sentences that stand out for me are,

"That level of broad color gamut rendering improves the present class of industry leading quantum dot (film based) displays manufactured and sold by one of the world's leading display OEMs by just over 20%. "

and

"This variant of quantum dot display technology also holds the potential to provide additional manufacturing flexibility by being a true "drop in" solution."

I take this to mean they've worked with a manufacturer to put this in their product in order to determine the 20% improvement. How the manufacturer actually proceeds with this is anybody's guess but if I can get a 20% improvement on my product and cut costs in the process, I know what I'd do.

If this is a true drop in solution then there will be a lot of display manufacturers knocking at the door just to stay relevant in the industry.

Then there's always QD solar and anti-counterfeiting security ink lurking in the background.
