I have posted this before but to me it is a really big deal, so for those who missed it-Merck has a mandatory retirement of age 65 for CEOs. Merck rescinded that requirement for Ken Frazier-current CEO. So why would Merck do this-is it because Merck does not have any one capable of becoming the new CEO? Of course not-they have dozens of qualified CEO executives. But Ken Frazier is an African-American who just happens to be pals with Dr. Dalton, Dr. Goldman, Dr. Mitchell, Sterling Crockett. And Merck is gnawing at the bits to get in the cannabis business, and fast. They desperately want to beat the competition. So they left Frazier CEO to fast track to the medical MJ/Hemp market. What a great partnership this is....
