Not sure about the medical marijuana angle with the acquisition. Of course GNBT is working on that themselves with their others partner(s). Important to note marijuana is increasingly being used for pain care. I attended a pain conference a few weeks ago. One of the speakers is a leading pain doc in Canada and is prescribing it as much or more than pain medicine.
The products referred to in this article are most likely topical creams, gels and solutions. Some of these specialty products have hundreds of dollars of profit per month per prescription month after month. I suspect they may also be providing durable medical equipment such as back braces which can have a profit of $800 plus. Vagal nerve stimulation devices $1200 of profit per. Can also be ongoing. I could go on but you get the idea. My clinic alone produces a couple hundred of these prescriptions per month. Do the math. $$$$$
