the trajectory of Dr Lebby and LWLG next-gen P2IC Platform in 2018 has been off the charts incredible!

March 2018 - Lightwave Logic Successfully Demonstrates Packaged Polymer Modulators Designed for 50Gbps

March 2018 - Dr. Michael Lebby receiving the PIC Entrepreneur and Business Leader award for 2018

June 2018 - World Roadmapping Forum for the Photonics Industry

Check out Slide 16 to see what the Roadmap deemed level of Importance for future developments, they took 100 points and allocated that total amongst areas of concern for development, the top two point getters were

1) test equipment for 100Gbs (got 21 pts)
2) Must operate at 100 Gbs NRZ ( got 16 pts)

no other entry got double digit points assigned to it

Industry perception and reality…

• Industry perception
– We (the Industry) are stuck at ~35-50 Gbaud bandwidth. Everything else has to come from increasing complexity of modulation schemes and electronics
• Reality:
– We (LWLG) can use polymer modulators for 100 Gbaud or more!
– E.g. 100Gbps single lane NRZ, 400Gbps with 4 lanes NRZ, 800 Gbps with 4 lanes PAM4

• Industry perception
– Voltages will be high like other MZ modulators
• Reality:
– ~1V means we can eliminate drivers, use direct drive from CMOS

• Industry perception
– Polymer modulators are huge, stand-alone devices
• Reality:
– 5mm Mach-Zehnder fits into standardized transceiver footprints
– Hybrid integration possible with InP, Si photonics, etc. ?

Polymer modulators are the ticket to the next speed node…

So what Platform can deliver 100Gbs NRZ ????

hmmm, all the Legacy Platforms are stuck at 35-50Gbs

ONLY Lightwave Logic (LWLG) can deliver 100Gbs NRZ

And ONLY Lightwave Logic (LWLG) can bring costs down to $1/Gb to meet Industry needs and break through the "purple brick wall"!

October 2018 - Open Letter (excerpt) >>

We have received feedback that our P2IC™ platform with tiny 100Gbaud polymer modulators with low voltage electrical bias are extremely attractive for the next generation fiber optic transceivers. At the recent ECOC conference (European Conference on Optical Communications) we heard potential customers express concerns about technological limits of conventional technologies. This prestigious commercial trade show is where leading companies market their products and plan purchases of optoelectronics equipment. Our talk there spoke directly to addressing those concerns. In the highly visible Market Focus session [1] we showed that our polymer modulators have industry-matching performance at 50Gbaud, but also the capability of breaking these technological limits at 100Gbaud. A Tier 1 customer prospect for our modulators said, "you guys are in the forefront right now".

Think about that, who were the Tier 1 presenters at ECOC, Facebook, Intel etc. and they believe LWLG is now in the lead over all other competitors!

How Fiber Optics Painted Itself into a Corner and How Electro-Optic Polymers Can Get It Out

Recall that two different solutions for 400G are shown in Figure 2. One reason that multiple solutions exist is discomfort with the use of 8 lanes. Parallelism beyond 4 lanes has not proved economical or small enough previously. But the industry is even more leery of increasing the modulation complexity. Complex modulation schemes are more sensitive to noise and are more error-prone. Notice that in Figure 3 the difference in PAM4 levels is only 1/3 has much as for NRZ. As a result, the optoelectronics on both transmit and receive ends must distinguish between these smaller differences in signal level. They require power-hungry signal processing electronics not only to encode and decode the data but to offset these errors. The industry already has experience with very complex modulations schemes (e.g. the gray and black circles in Figure 1) and deems them too large, too power-hungry, and way too expensive—in other words, practical only for national backbone networks. Moreover, they are approaching fundamental limits.

LWLG has the solution now! It is a simple solution! While the Industry Legacy devices are stuck at 35-50 Gbaud LWLG has already proven devices that operate at 130Ghz/160Gbs, and with Fempto-second proven response TIME of the LWLG material systems, these standalone speeds can go even MUCH faster, standalone devices in excess of 1 Terabit/sec are achievable for LWLG, no competitor is remotely close to this ability!

So while the Industry Legacy technologies are forced to use complex modulation schemes to advance their speeds to the next node at 400Gbs and beyond, LWLG can provide simple cheap reliable NRZ, OOK devices at 400Gbs, and even 800Gbs in next-next node! LWLG is only just begun!
