Back in August I posted that I received a call from Merrill Lynch that any stock in my portfolio that was valued at under $3 /share would have to be sold by Sept 28th in order for Merrill to do the transaction.
After that date I would have to transfer the stock to another brokerage firm to sell it. They added that I probably wouldn't be able to find one since all brokerage firms were following suit.
At AlanC's suggestion I asked if I could have my shares in certificate form and they said yes if the company(NTEK) would supply them. Whatever that means. I thought Merrill would have my certificates.
Anyway I just held on to all my shares past the Sept 28th deadline.
I received a call this week from Merrill and they changed their tune. They now said I can still sell the shares of NTEK but not on their online website. I would have to call them up to place the sell order. They warned me when I do decide to do that that it could take hours even days to complete the sale.
