Salty, Yes it was like heaven. Access to the ocean, great fishing. Was anchored in 30 feet of water with 40 feet of rope. After a while we noticed the anchor was straight down. There is a shelf off Key Largo and it goes from 32 feet or so to 100 feet. Makes for more interesting fishing.

of of Cape Coral, Snook and Sheepshead were about it. The raised size requirements of many of the other fish and we had to throw most of them all back. To get the good fishing, the Gulf is like a bowl. It went to 12 to 12 feet real quick, but to get 25 feet of water you had to go out 20 miles and have a GPS and hope the weather would not turn on you with strong winds or fog. And you needed GPS to mark the good spots to return to. We need fan like weeds, not a grass bottom. I did little fishing at Cape Coral. Folks were there from 87 until 2001.

So yes, Key Largo was like heaven for fishing. The Caribbean Club that the Humphrey Bogart movie Key West was partially filmed at was still there and only a mile from my folks place. But, it had become a biker bar, lol.
