"The first difference that jumped out at me was the sheer number of pipe to be refurbed. There were 5 different pipe holder racks with about 100 pipes on each holder. These are 28 foot pipes. So there were about 500 of them. I took some photos and noticed there weren't as many mud pumps in the yard as before, so they must have sold a bunch. These are very high ticket items so that is a good sign. Each rig needs two or three mud pumps. They are a critical component and must work. Five Star does a complete refurbing of all mud pumps including the generators.
It started to rain a little so i headed back to the truck to prepare for my departure. As i flipped a bitch in the yard to head out the way i came in, something caught my eye in the far back against the fence. So i drove over there and around the corner and lo and behold there were 7 or 8 more racks holding more pipe ready to be refurbed. So they actually had more like 1200 sourced pipes. I stopped the truck and took more photos and i guess the unusual sight of a big rig in the back area caught the eye of a couple mechanics from the back mechanics building, who came over. One was the head mechanic named Bo, and the other was their in-house pipe blaster/sander.
We said hello and i asked about all the pipe. He said the sander was scheduled to start on the pipe earlier in the morning but because of the rain he was delayed and needed to get going."
