The regulators know. They have been captured and if things get a bit dicey they resign and take a job with one of the firms they have been looking the other way for. Sadly the taxpayers will end up paying for these criminal acts just as they did in 2008 with very few going to jail. Lets not forget the Madoff exemption. Put a few in his cell for life.
