I guess President Trump waved his magic wand and now Florence is a Cat 2 hurricane with 105 mph winds.

Ocean water breeches the dunes in Avon, N.C., as the first effects of Hurricane Florence reach Hatteras Island on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018.

As of 1 p.m. CDT Thursday Hurricane Florence was located about 110 miles east-southeast of Wilmington, N.C., and was moving northwest at 10 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Florence is forecast to stay on a northwest track today while slowing down. Tonight the massive storm could turn to the west-northwest and west and slow down even more. A slow path to the west-southwest is expected Friday night and Saturday.

On that forecast track, the center of Florence will approach the North and South Carolina coasts later today.

Then it will move "near or over" the coast of southern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina tonight and Friday.

Then it could crawl over eastern South Carolina Friday night through Saturday night.

That will give Florence the opportunity to pound coastal areas with large waves and storm surge.
