Well said Junebug. The Farm Bill will affect many different agencies --- everything from farming to welfare --- so getting started is crucial. The FDA could not do anything until they were designated the lead enforcement agency --- this is just how the government works. Now, we wait for other agencies to get their regulations in order. All this is likely to happen fairly quickly because Congress is relaxing the regulations, and President Trump already said he will sign the bill as soon as it lands on his desk. No one wants to see little Johnny or Sally go hungry because the SNAP program was not funded. So Dems are just as likely to approve the bill as people with Rs by their names.
