Because they have to - it is an obligation. They got product and unless they return it - they have to pay for it no matter what.
The pace of take up at the dealership is not Steve's issue unless they want to return it. By providing "terms" he is allowing for the roll out.
He can't let the AR build up - it will make image worse. Let's see what the AR is at this filing. If AR goes up by the sales for the quarter - then AR will be sitting at almost a years worth of sales - that won't fly in the market. If it stabilizes, then at least he is collecting current.
