I'll second that to that I think you're wrong as to your reasoning of starkweather's resignation, most of the time when the president or CEO gets released from a company unless they've done something terrible my experiences and what I've seen it results in letting the guy go saying he resigned so he still has his integrity and is not tainting his reputation from being fire or let go.
