I have my doubts about this whole ACI cell thing. The only reasons I give it any kind of legitimacy are that two members on this board seem to be VERY confident in their source and the fact that UTOPYA has yet to dispel this rumor. I still think this ACI thing is not legit but it has hung around long enough that it may in fact be accurate. They have not stopped sending out emails and if whoever it is on the other end is lying they could potentially face some legal troubles. So either they don’t give a shit about the lies or they are telling the truth.
Let’s just say it’s real. I don’t believe this would be the only distributor. It’s likely that if they are “legit” they are just one small time operation that has commited to selling the phones. Remember we also have another member on this board who stated a source from India claims that the phones are being tested over there on a select group of individuals and that the market over there knows about them. It would also be very important for Utopya to have a service provider (Verizon, TMobile, etc) be involved with the phones because most people purchase through them.
So many “sources” it’s hard to determine what, if anything, is accurate. Maybe this is me being anxious but I also doubt they wait till Black Friday to launch. That in my opinion would be stupid. With all the other marketing that goes on from the big boys (Samsung, Apple, etc) for their phones around that time, along with the discounts they give on those phones, most consumers will be inclined to take a deal on a more established phone company, rather then take a flier on a startup. Utopya wont be able to compete in that circumstance. Marketing on twitter and Instagram isn’t enough to get the name out there, they need word of mouth and to do that they need a product on the market that individuals have tried. Who knows when the hell this thing is gonna kick off. It’s been interesting to say the least and I have been purchasing small chunks since January. I, like many others, am anxious to see when we finally get the news we have all been expecting. I think it will be before Black Friday, of course my predictions haven’t been accurate to date but here’s to hoping I finally get one right.
Gave myself 2 1/2 months wiggle room just in case!
