You can say the same thing about when they try to upsell you on a oil change maintenance package that includes various items such as tire rotations and oil changes cabin filter replacement etc. The mark up on general maintenance items is at least 3x sometimes more then what you can purchase at say walmart. For me, I have the capability and know how to perform those procedures far cheaper and less time consuming than the next guy. But for people that don't have the know-how nor the time or the equipment to do those basic procedures then they would find value in purchasing those maintenance packages. It's not right or wrong it's the perceived value.
