I've been watching mars on my nightly jogs -too hot during the day -still in the mid 70's in the middle of the night
and was surprised when i 1st saw it so bright -brighter than jupiter's -2.2 magnitude but less bright than venus -4.4 magnitude
but despite any conjunction w jupiter still cant discern any disk w the naked eye- so much much smaller than the moon but didnt see tonight due to clouds
normally mars is rather dim, like a 5th or 6th magnitude star
of course everybody knows the following:
Indeed, the elliptical orbit of the giant Jupiter has a complex apochromatic altazimutal velocity for which the cyclo-parabolic projection (adjusted Lambert benchmark) is affected by a singular analemmic anomaly modifying the apside line (Editor’s note: the line joining the apocenter at the orbital periastron) which crosses precisely the orbit of the asterism of the planet Mars.
