Given the choice, and I made it decades after the childhood vaxxes, better a pin cushion than a pinhead. I was among the first to get the polio vax. Check out the prevalence of polio today.
All of my little friends survived that and the nuns drilling us mercilessly to memorize damned near everything from the Catechism to the Declaration of Independence and the preamble to the Constitution.
Maybe they intuited that we would need extra reserves of mental capacity because who knew what kind 'devil's brew' was in them vaxxes?
In boot camp the vaxxes were delivered by air pistol, one delivered to each arm by sadistic corpsmen who would sometime slightly move the gun to draw blood. Mfr's!
