The PR shows Leo is covering all bases for B-OM Phase 3. I’m sure you know the plan is to use sachets in the next trial. The sooner sachets can be manufactured under CGMP, the sooner Phase 3 can start. That’s where CoreRx comes in.
I can think of several reasons why Leo didn’t want the partner to do this part. The most important is time. BPs usually take longer to do things because there are many things going on. It could take them months to do DD on a contractor then sign an agreement. I worked at a medium-sized company and it took weeks to get all the required signatures for a major purchase/agreement. IPIX can sign such agreement much faster since it’s a small company.
Another reason is money. Paying CoreRx now could get more milestone payments or royalties later. The less BPs need to do, the less risk for them and the better deal for IPIX.
