has a TEM photo of Blue QD and this caption -
This Photo is of our Blue Cadmium Free Quantum Dots under 700,000 X magnification. It is now much easier to appreciate just how much smaller blue dots are and why they are much more challenging to produce.
The Red and Green QD on the preceding pages look gigantic at lesser magnifications.
The smallest size QD I have ever read about are "Magic Size" with variations between 1.3nm and 1.7nm. Based on the photo and magnification, I would say QMC's Blue QD are less than 1nm and maybe sub-nm size. The Update does not say their size. Looking closely at the photo, the dots do not look 'round' but slightly irregular. I don't know if that is an effect of the Godzilla proportion magnification or a true indication of their shape. In any case, these might be considered to be more like a fairly uniform nanocrystal or nanoparticle rather than a quantum dot. Their existence shows an advanced R&D capability by a small group of engineers utilyzing the advantages of the automated process machine (all R&D research and production is done on the machine, not batch flasks) to conceptualize and bring to production something QMC's competitors cannot begin to imagine.
Anyone reading this have experience with TEM and can guestimate the Blue QD size?
