However there are a couple of new privately-held companies that are working on other alternative approaches. I'm hopeful that someone will finally stumble upon something that will help.
In the meantime make sure you're getting plenty of the good fats, especially coconut, avocado and (to some extent) olive oil. Unlike other organs, the brain can use fats as fuel, and one of the theories which I personally believe is that some people lose the ability to utilize glucose for their brain cells, which is what causes some cases of Alzheimer's -- so give your brain the fat it needs.
90% of the cholesterol in your body is in your brain, which is why the stupid dangerous statin drugs CAUSE alzheimers. Great, you have low cholesterol, enjoy your long life suffering from dementia.
