Article about failures in the amyloid theory STILL haven't persuaded companies to give up on their drugs. Now they're going to try giving them as a preventive to the people who have the APO4 gene that causes Alz. (the identified genetic trigger, but it's NOT the cause of Alz for most people.)

I'm sure they're hoping that if it works, they can get every adult over 50 to take it, the same way that they are trying to get healthy people who don't need them to take statins.
In this case though, if there aren't severe side effects, I think a LOT of people would take the drug to try to prevent Alz. But so far all the amyloid drugs have had bad side effects.
