chairman,
i was a tax guy for a huge soft drink company (can't legally name them but i still hate coke). anyways, we had a tax reserve for a couple of billion. the IRS came in hemmed and hawed and gave us a few hundred million dollar tax bill. we paid it and had a big f#@%#g party.
our treasurer stated "the tax department is the only department where you pay out hundreds of millions and still celebrate".
moral of the story.... if you go by reserves you aren't doing yourself justice.
