Projections, be they profit, sales, or other... is a lose/lose proposition. Unless you have a proven track record of being spot on 100% of the time, you lose if you come in over, or worse yet, you come in under. The projectionist will be vilified either way.
Having said that... in some circumstances, like an extremely undervalued PPS... I think, if a CEO has good news (reliable information that the profits will be good), they should indicate such, even though they may run the risk of coming in above the estimate/projection. Profit projections are not illegal... many companies do such regularly.
Now, Steve has "indicated" the company is doing well and growing, but I agree with many that a little more information would do wonders for the PPS. Even if he could provide public facts like how much advertising time costs on the network. This is somewhat public information because if a potential advertiser inquires about buying ad spots, they must be told the rate being charged. So... why not tell us that ? Doing so would provide us with some basic information that we could make somewhat informed decisions going forward. Publish the rate schedule.
Perhaps there is a line of thinking that profits will be revealed on the quarterly/yearly reports for all to see at the same time, and that good news there will increase the PPS. However in reality, if that concept were true, then releasing projections now of the same thing would have the same affect on the PPS now. So, with the PPS in the dumper now... why not take some prudent (and insider information legal of course) steps now to support the PPS when it needs it the most.
The one thing that puzzles me is... both Steve and Joseph have skin in the game as they say... and a lot of it. I am confident in saying they have more shares then ALL of us combined. They seem unconcerned about the current state of the PPS. And when I say unconcerned I mean it appears they are not doing all they can to increase the PPS (like release some financial news). Yes, they are working hard to increase the "value" of the company, which "should" increase the PPS at some point, but many of us have a significant investment in the company and would like to see the PPS higher NOW (as it deserves to be)... not later. Back to a few cents is all it would take for many of us to feel somewhat comfortable to wait for the higher numbers to materialize. Obviously they have way more information then we do about the current state of the company and its growth prospects going forward, so their lack of concern is in some ways comforting in itself... for if the majority shareholders are not worried... then I shouldn't be worried.
But none the less... I for one could use some confidence building about now.
Oh well... that's just MY 2-cents.... others may feel differently.
