It’s going to depend on how much gain you would see. It’s somthing around if you would owe 1k in taxes you have to file estimates. If you wait and pay it all at the end you can incur penalties.
As for trades, if you sell a stock for a gain you will owe tax on that gain regardless of if you turn around and buy a new stock.
