The liars elsewhere were freaked out after that PR, it was funny. Now they are trying to deny that 80% efficacy is good? LOL
What the data seemed to be saying was: the effect is more obvious for people who had higher doses of cisplatin. THEY are the group that is most likely to GET oral mucositis.
It should be obvious that if 90% of people at the high dosage usually get OM, and only 20% did, then the drug works.
It should also be obvious that if only (for example) 50% of people who take a low dose get oral mucositis, then the placebo group people only had a 50% chance of getting it in the first place. So if Bril-OM works on 80% of the ones who DO get it, the figure for that group is not going to be as amazing as for the high-dose group.
But it STILL prevents a significant number of cases in the low-dose group. Would you ask your doctor for a prescription, to greatly reduce your chance of getting it, or would you decided to take your chances? I'd demand a precription.
