The robotic economic boom in the past 100 years since the last Global Great Depression was initiated by WW2 and sustained by continuous technological progress and continuous economic expansion driven by innovation and nascent consumer products amid high demands from the world's "have not". But those "have not" not only have become have, they have become sellers. Adding to problem of global economic saturation and mounting global debts are impending global over population amid dwindling natural resources and worsening food and fresh water shortage.
Historically no species ever permanently dominated the planet, nature always had a way to control population. For human, it has been famine, pandemic disease or war, judging from the picture of current sluggish global economy and increasing political and economic tension between nations, it seems that such trend will continue.
We are a lucky generation, most of us may not see the horror of Armageddon, but future generations will. Be reminded that the atrocity of Japanese invasion of China and the war in Europe were rooted in the prolonged Global Economic Great Depression in the 1920's and preceded by the stock market crash of 1922. Dow Jones Industrial Average is currently at an unprecedented high close to 28,000, a logical peak.
