They can buy and sell ( or in their case sell then buy)
Shares that do not exist and simply take money out of the ( bank) so to speak
The PIPES loans ... before money ever exchanged hands the loaner can start selling the loanee stock, and can either keep selling till bankrupt or decide at some point when the stock worthless buy in shares from people cleaning out account
Who knows maybe even the retail brokers give the hedge funds access to retail shares to straighten books when the regulators show up.
There are many ways to retire before 50 , I belong to the same club as a few of them
Scammers all of them
