She was a mountain of a woman with an old tattoo
of the devil riding high up on one breast
The tail of a viper twitched like a windshield wiper
on the other, where its head was, I just guessed

She sat behind a ball in a dark room down the hall
A single light bulb dangled by a cord
The sign read “Fortunes Read by Madam Z”
The five bucks I knew I could afford

Gypsy woman, read my mind
Madam Z what will you find

The night lights up, hear the thunder roll

The light bulb flickers and I hear the gasp
of a voice long dead with a heavy rasp
The vipers movin’, it’s slitherin’ down
the front of Madam Z’s black gown

The devil’s on the rise tonight

Her eye balls roll back in her head
I swear that woman just went dead
A flash of lightning fills the air
Something smells like burning hair

The crystal ball started to glow
