Laws to commit people ... So yes we can. We just don't have facilities or money to keep them.
Most states closed mental institutions in the 70's and 80's
The seriously mentally ill were sent to nursing homes. I know. 1 almost beat my mother to death.
Seriously though ... There are some people that should not be on the street. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be treated humanly ...doesn't mean they should be in nursing homes either.
