How does "in the future" not mean the same day? If I say that I'm going to send you a PM in the future, and I send it 5 minutes later, it's the same day, isn't it?
This parsing of possible ways someone might decide what the meaning of a word is, is an exercise in futility and increasingly, in absurdity.
"In the future" has NO time constraint innate in its meaning.
I'm going to write another sentence, in the future.
