In no way do I think people would read that short positions were increased by that much, when the statement is simply that the percentage of trades that were short trades was such-and-such. If they do, they are ignorant.
Anyone who is buying a biotech -- which as we ALL know requires extensive research on the company and the science behinds its potential drugs (unless you're just gambling) -- certainly should have heard of daytrading. If they don't understand that trades are not forever, and that some people close trades the same day (or sometimes, within the same minute) -- they certainly should not be trading biotechs.
