OK, I got my passenger story. A good friend from, Minnesota flew his Mooney to Rapid City wear I lived in the mid 70's. He had some fiberglass tape on some of the windows in the 4 passenger plane, lol. He did some stunts over the Black Hills that scared the crap out of me. Mt Rushmore was a no fly zone, but the near by Devils Tower in Wyoming was not then, it might be no fly now, bit drones do it.. We flew around it 3 times and waved at the several climbers, glad none of them fell while they waved back. We were like 1/3 below the top. Actually rather close to the ground, in my opinion and close to the climbers too.

A point of interest, a scene or two from Close Encounters of the Third kind were filmed on top of it.
