They don't owe him anything anymore, he was paid off completely back in 2015. The shares in Maple Structure are how they finagled it. They generated 100mil common shares when they absorbed his 1mil preferred shares back. Those shares represent the money that they fronted to pay him back. Theoretically if Jack sold them he would possibly be making back the money he/they fronted to pay back Dr. Gross.
I don't think Gross is in the picture anymore. I only pointed it out because the shares matched up and it is a possible motive for Jack to recoup losses he incurred to clear MMEX's books.
Again though, Jack didn't sell the shares, so unless he traded them for something of value, its just conjecture. I was simply trying to understand why Jack would dispose of shares out of the Maple companies vs issue new shares into the wild from MMEX. It would be nice to see a deal made with existing shares rather than issuing new.
